Casino themed parties are an absolute blast! They are suitable for birthday’s, Christmas party’s, Murder Mysteries, bachlor party’s just to name a few. The greatest thing about the Casino theme is that you can go as low key or over the top as you want with the decor.. hey, it’s Vegas baby!
Be sure to start a Pinterest Board to pin all of the great ideas you find!
Here you will find inspirational ideas that will help you plan the BEST Casino Night that your guests will rave about for months to come!
One of the simplest ways to plan the set up of your space is to break each area into separate “stations”. You can use a table, kitchen island, countertop, buffet or anything with a surface to create these stations. Each station serves its own purpose and can be decorated according to your chosen theme. The MUST HAVE stations are described below.
Beverage Bar
What’s a Casino without a bar?! You can set out plastic or glass champagne flutes with a bottle of bubbly on display as cute decor and drink it later in the evening. Have martini and other stylish glasses available for use. There are lots of cute bottle tags and bar kits that can be purchased to help dress up the bar, I used this one.
These DIY wine glass tags are an inexpensive but festive touch! Just cut a slit in the center to the middle of the card and use a hole punch or scissors to cut out a hole large enough for the stem of the glass…. so easy!
Creating a Vegas style drink menu is a great way to keep with the theme. Make sure to display it so everyone can see. Some fun drink examples are:
Black Jack – Rum & Coke or Whisky & Coke
Rummy Punch – Any type of punch will do!
Classic Martini
Casino Royal – Vodka and Cranberry (or your favorite mix)
Food Buffet
Buffets are very popular in Casinos so this fits well within the theme. Whether you choose appetizers or a full course meal, a buffet style is an easy way to serve your food to the guests. You can prepare your food ahead of time and keep it warm using a slow cooker or crock pot. Or you can purchase a small warmer like the one I have (shown below), they come in handy when hosting a any dinner party!
Cold food can stay chilled by setting the dish in a foil pan with ice in the bottom.
Creating a menu using casino or Vegas themed names adds to the charm of the party. We had a chili cookoff during our party and called it “Big Win Chili”, along with potato skins named “Black Jack Skins” and a “777’s layered salad”. Play around with the name of whatever you choose to serve to find something that would work well.
You can also serve a dessert with a Casino theme flare. I served cupcakes with these fabulous cupcake toppers that I got from Amazon. You could also serve a cake with similar decor, there are lots of great ideas on Pinterest!
Candy Bar
A candy bar is a MUST HAVE if you have the space! Look for candy in the color of your theme, jelly beans, Swedish berries, gold chocolate coins, popcorn… whatever you can find locally. The photo below shows how I set mine up. It’s even better if you have fancy glasses, vases or cool trays to serve everything.
Table Games
The feature of any Casino Night is the game play. You will want to choose games that don’t require too many rules, you want quick and easy play. You may only have room for one or two games but that’s more than enough to keep the evening fun!
Ensure that you have enough decks of cards, poker chips and dice available for the games you choose. The dollar store is a great place to get these items cheap.
The top games I would recommend are listed below:
Black Jack is a simple game to play, can be played on any table and can be played with a few players or many. I used my kitchen island as the Black Jack table, dressing it up with a green table cloth and a mat that I purchased on Amazon. If you don’t want to purchase a mat a green table cloth will do just fine to replicate the green of a table game in a casino.
Roulette is a classic casino game that is really exciting and fun to play. An affordable kit can be purchased through Amazon.
Texas Hold’em is a very popular casino game and would be a hit at any Casino Night. You can also purchase a mat through Amazon or just cover your surface with a green table cloth to mimic the a casino game table.
A staple casino game, you can purchase a mat through amazon to be able to play.
Your guest will have a great time playing BINGO! It’s an oldy but a goody. Spice it up by having fun prizes for your guests to win!
This is a game that isn’t well known but it is a lot of fun. Purchase enough $1 scratch and win tickets for every guest at your party. Hand them out so each guest has one. Using one dice, each guest takes a turn rolling. Even #’s they pass their card to the left, Odd #’s pass to the right, roll a 1 and you keep the card, roll a 6 and the card goes in the pot (middle of table). Once a card is in the pot it is out of play. Keep rolling until one player has all of the remaining cards that aren’t in the pot. The winner gets to keep all of the tickets!
Feature Walls
The best way to decorate for your Casino Night is to have a feature wall. These are the best backdrop for photos! It can be a floor to ceiling wall or a partial wall, you can make any space work. Try to find a large back drop to cover the wall. You can use plastic tablecloths, a glitter tablecloth, a funky bed sheet or you can purchase a themed back drop like the one I used that is shown below.
Adding lights give the glitzy feel of being in an actual casino. An inexpensive box of white twinkle lights will work perfectly. You can border your back drop or place the lights behind, whatever you feel looks best. I placed the lights just behind the back drop as you can see above.
You can add balloons, casino themed decorations and large playing cards, Large playing cards can be made by scanning an actual card on a larger scale and printed in color ink. You can even use black & white ink if that is all that you have. Covering a wall with black plastic tablecloth and then adding red tablecloths as curtains is a great way to give the casino feel as well. Use the picture below for inspiration.
If you have large windows you can DIY curtains in your theme color using plastic tablecloths. I like to buy the 100ft rolls of tablecloths so that I have lots to work with. Roll out the length that you need, cut, lay the top of the curtain on a flat surface and run packing tape along the top. This will help re-enforce the plastic for when you punch holes for your curtain rod. You can see how great they looked in my space below. I have saved these for use during future parties.
You can also purchase a VIP door cover for all of your important guests 😉 I found mine on amazon.
I also found this incredible wall scene (above) of slot machines at a dollar store. After a bit of searching I did find that it is available on amazon. It is huge and came in multiple panels that made it easy to hang. I use two sided tape to attach it to the wall. The tape came off easily and didn’t damage the paint.
Table Decor
Table decor lets you add the little details when decorating for your Casino Night. One tip for your table decor is to use plastic tablecloths. They have multiple uses and are very affordable. They come in multiple colors that will make it easy for you to match to your theme. They also allow for easy clean up, just wrap it up on the table once you are done. You can use these table covers on all of your surfaces to tie all of the spaces together.
The addition of a table runner will cut break out the space for your decorations. Some excellent table decorations the casino theme are:
DIY Dice
A cute DIY Casino Night craft is large cardboard dice. I purchased white boxes off of amazon and then drew on the dots. You could also cut out construction paper or felt and glue them on. They look great stacked on top of one another too!
Poker Hand Pick
Using a hot glue gun take a great poker hand like a Royal Flush and glue it to a large bamboo skewer. You can use these picks by sticking them into the tops of your DIY dice or in a vase with feathers or other picks.
Another great decoration for your Casino Night Party to display in different spaces is a house of cards. You can use a hot glue gun to ensure it stays together. It would look great as a centerpiece!
Music
Music.. Don’t forget the music! The music that you play will absolutely dictate the vibe of the party and provide that Las Vegas Casino ambiance. There lots of great playlists on Spotify or Apple music for your use. Just play it on low in the background unless you want to turn your Casino Night into a dance party! You could also have some slot machine sounds playing if you wanted to really create a realistic feel.
